The iBorderCtrl project, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research program with €4.5 million, was designed to enhance border security through automated deception detection. The system analyzed facial micro-expressions, voice patterns, and other biometric indicators to determine if travelers were being truthful during pre-screening interviews.
